OPEN CALL:
Wild Retreat Host + Adventure Leader
Fall 2027 Retreat Season:
Contract/ Retreat-Based Role
We’re looking for an experienced, grounded, adventure-loving human to lead our Wild Retreats: outdoor-based experiences for women who are ready to step outside their routines, reconnect with the natural world, and rediscover themselves through adventure.
Our Wild Retreats are designed to take women beyond the familiar. Think rugged landscapes, long days on the trail, road trips through wild places, canyoneering, campfires under the stars, and the kind of shared experiences that remind us what we're capable of.
These retreats are about more than the adventure itself. They're about cultivating connection, building self-trust, embracing the unknown, and creating space for women to feel a little more untamed, alive, and at home in themselves.
We’re looking for someone who can confidently lead the outdoor experience while also holding the container for meaningful group connection. Someone who knows how to navigate the practical demands of an adventure retreat while also actively helping facilitate the magic that happens when women come together in the wild.
THE DETAILS:
Season: Fall 2027
Format: Contract-based, retreat-specific engagements
Location: Varies by retreat and adventure destination
Commitment: Travel and multi-day retreat availability, including overnight stays
Compensation: To be discussed based on experience, scope of responsibilities, and retreat requirements
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Lead the adventure. Guide participants through outdoor experiences such as hiking, road trips, camping, canyoneering, and other nature-based adventures appropriate to the retreat location and your expertise.
Hold the group experience. Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment where women feel safe to challenge themselves, connect with others, and show up as they are.
Facilitate meaningful connection. Lead group circles, reflective conversations, connection exercises, and other retreat experiences that encourage self-discovery, personal growth, and community.
Manage on-the-ground logistics. Help coordinate daily itineraries, transportation, trail plans, meals, gear, supplies, and transitions throughout the retreat.
Prioritize safety and sound judgment. Assess conditions, adapt plans when needed, understand group capabilities, and make thoughtful decisions in changing outdoor environments.
Be a steady presence. Bring calm leadership, flexibility, and a grounded energy to the unexpected moments that inevitably come with outdoor adventures.
Represent our mission. Embody our commitment to women's connection, personal growth, embodied experiences, and the transformative power of stepping outside our comfort zones.
YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO:
Feels at home outdoors. You’re adventurous, capable, resourceful, and comfortable taking responsibility for a group in unfamiliar environments. You understand that leading an adventure retreat requires both practical competence and emotional intelligence.
Has meaningful experience with outdoor adventures, hiking, camping, backpacking, road trips, or other wilderness-based experiences.
Has experience hosting, leading, or facilitating retreats, group experiences, workshops, or community gatherings.
Can confidently drive a large passenger van and is comfortable managing group transportation.
Is organized, adaptable, and able to manage logistics while staying present with participants.
Has strong interpersonal skills and knows how to create a sense of belonging among women from different backgrounds and experience levels.
Can balance a spirit of adventure with responsible decision-making, clear boundaries, and a commitment to participant safety.
Is comfortable with the realities of outdoor adventure, including changing weather, physical challenges, early mornings, and plans that don't always go as expected, and ALWAYS having a plan B.
Connects with our philosophy of re-wilding: returning to a more instinctive, embodied, connected way of being through time in nature and shared experience.
REQUIRED:
1-2 years demonstrated outdoor experience and confidence in adventure or fitness-based environments.
Previous outdoor group leadership, wilderness facilitation, or retreat hosting job experience
Ability to drive a large passenger van safely and responsibly, with an appropriate valid driver's license and driving record.
Strong communication, organizational, and group leadership skills.
Availability to work during our Fall 2027 retreat season.
A PLUS, BUT NOT REQUIRED:
CPR and First Aid certifications, ideally with wilderness-specific training.
Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification.
Mountaineering, technical hiking, canyoneering, or other relevant outdoor leadership certifications.
Experience leading women's retreats, wellness experiences, or personal development programming.
Experience with backcountry logistics, risk assessment, and emergency preparedness.
We recognize that outdoor leadership takes many forms. We’re interested in your real world experience, judgment, and ability to lead responsibly, not just a list of credentials. We’d love to hear from people who feel genuinely called to this work.
